TEN GOOD SIGNS THAT HE'S LYING

Ten Signs He's Lying
473 words

He's your sweetie and you want to believe him, but sometimes things just don't add up. You haven't yet learned all his ways and it's difficult to tell whether he's lying or not. How does a woman tell when her man is lying? Here are ten things to look for:

1. How is his posture? Is it normal for him? Or is he suddenly shifting
from foot to foot or putting his hands in his pockets? Is he suddenly
standing or sitting very erect and in a stiff position?

2. The absolute telltale sign of a lie is covering the mouth while
speaking, but it can be more subtle than outright covering of
the mouth. Look for glancing touches of the mouth, or, more often,
the nose, ear or chin. A lot of liars suddenly get an itchy nose.

3. The person telling the lie often tries to physically avoid you. You
sit down next to him, he gets up. You follow him into the dining
room, he moves into the kitchen.

4. Do you notice a change in the tone and pitch of his voice? Do his
upper reaches sound soprano like?

5. Is he speaking faster or slower than usual?

6. How is his eye contact? We normally make eye contact in a conver-
sation between one-fourth to one-half of the time we are talking. When
people are lying, they tend to make eye contact less than that. Watch for
fluttering eyes can't seem to focus directly back at you. Don't let him get
away with trying to tell his story while wearing dark sunglasses.

7. Is he full of involuntary movements? Is he fidgeting, jiggling, scratching,
crossing and uncrossing his legs?

8. Sweat it out of him by asking him directly and then carefully watching his
response. "Are you sleeping with Tiffany?" Do his hands move to his
face and head? Watch his face for a twitch. Unless he has a
neurological problem, a twitch can be a giveaway.

9. Does he lick his lips or pucker them?

10. If he's lying he may look off to his right and up because that's where the
creative side is that is dreaming up the lie. If he's telling the truth, he's
more likely to look down and to the left. Try this out. Ask someone to
imagine a big purple whale with green dots and yellow ears and watch
where they look. They are using their creative mind and probably
looking up and to the right.

Men usually lie to avoid a confrontation. The fact that you caught him in a lie doesn't mean you need to terminate the relationship. You may have told your share of white lies as well. A relationship can survive patches of dishonesty as long as there is some basic trust building at the center which can survive the occasional white lie.
